About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead the Software Architecture Team for Boeing’s AvionX Mission Systems Software organization
  • Direct the design, development, testing, debugging, and maintenance of embedded software integrated into devices and systems
  • Ensure software meets industry, customer, safety, and regulatory standards
  • Direct review, analysis, and translation of customer requirements into embedded software product designs
  • Consult on embedded systems software for specialized hardware
  • Advise on integration of embedded software with hardware components
  • Oversee analysis, monitoring, and improvement of embedded software efficiency and stability
  • Direct testing and debugging of embedded software
  • Influence technologies, tools, frameworks, and regulatory changes relevant to software and hardware development
  • Shape company approaches to software and hardware integration domains
  • Oversee internal and supplier software team performance and compliance with project plans and industry standards
  • Provide technical leadership for embedded software project management functions
  • Advise management on embedded software engineering topics

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent
  • Ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance; U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship
  • U.S. Person required for U.S. export control compliance
  • 5+ years of experience leading a software development team through the full software life cycle
  • 5+ years of experience in software architecture and design of embedded software systems
  • Ability to effectively lead, communicate and collaborate with stakeholders across multiple organizations
  • Experience with software architecture and design methodologies
  • Ability to synthesize software architectures and designs meeting requirements, characteristics, and constraints
  • Ability to independently identify and solve team problems using creativity and engineering principles
  • Experience with real-time software domains, characteristics, constraints, products, architecture, requirements, interfaces, designs, and integration/test approaches
  • Experience with flight management systems and/or civil navigation
  • Experience certifying software in alignment with DO-178C
  • Experience developing software for motion planning, estimation, and/or control
  • Experience developing software or simulations with MATLAB and/or Simulink
  • Experience developing software or simulations with C++
  • Successful candidates must satisfy the Company's Conflict of Interest assessment process
  • Required to complete a technical assessment as part of the selection process
  • Must meet U.S. export control compliance requirements
