About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Advise management on topics related to the embedded software engineering environment
  • Consult on embedded systems software for specialized hardware
  • Direct testing and debugging of software for embedded devices and systems
  • Influence technologies, tools, frameworks, and regulatory changes relevant to software and hardware development
  • Direct the design, development, testing, debugging, and maintenance of software integrated into embedded devices and systems
  • Direct review and translation of customer requirements into embedded software product designs
  • Influence company approaches to software and hardware integration
  • Oversee analysis, monitoring, and improvement of embedded software system efficiency and stability
  • Oversee internal and supplier software team performance tracking and evaluation
  • Provide consultation on embedded software and hardware integration
  • Provide technical leadership for embedded software project management functions
  • Lead the AvionX Software Engineering organization as its highest software technical authority across airborne software programs from architecture definition through certification closure
  • Own software architecture coherence, integrity, and DO-178C/LOR compliance across commercial and defense platforms
  • Enable enterprise software engineering practices and processes across AvionX programs

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent
  • Ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance; U.S. Citizenship required by the U.S. Government
  • U.S. Person required for U.S. export control compliance
  • 15+ years of experience programming in C/C++
  • 5+ years of experience developing embedded systems software using VxWorks, DDC-I Deos, or Green Hills Software Integrity RTOS
  • 5+ years of experience with embedded software development, verification, or certification
  • 5+ years of experience with DO-178 high DAL certification
  • 3+ years of experience using Matlab/Simulink
  • Employer will not sponsor applicants for employment visa status

  • Required to complete a technical assessment
  • Willingness/ability to travel 20%
  • Ability to work with software architecture, design, requirements traceability, embedded systems, real-time systems, testing, certification, supplier assessment, and project management tools
