About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Coordinate internal and external stakeholders to drive development and implementation of an operational concept for a space mission
- Serve as point of contact for customers and work with subject matter experts to identify achievable solutions meeting customer needs
- Support technology integration and development of first-of-kind space vehicles and missions
- Develop and present review packages to internal and external senior leadership
- Drive complex system trade studies to closure
- Ensure proper system architecture supports mission objectives
- Perform functional analysis and decomposition for mission activities
- Coordinate with diverse stakeholders to resolve cross-segment issues
- Use Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools to capture system architecture and operational concept
- Work with system architects, ConOps developers, fault and autonomy designers, and Recommended Operating Procedure authors
- Develop solutions to previously unsolved problems within broad, minimally defined design spaces
- Lead integrated efforts for aggressive development timelines
Requirements
What you’ll need- Active U.S. Top Secret/SCI security clearance; U.S. Citizenship Required
- U.S. Person status required for U.S. export control compliance
- 1+ years of related experience for level 2; 3+ years for level 3
- Experience in space systems and working with multi-discipline engineering teams
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in engineering, engineering technology, computer science, data science, mathematics, physics, chemistry, or directly related field
- Ability and willingness to work occasional compensated ad hoc support outside typical business hours
- Successful completion of the Company's Conflict of Interest assessment process
- Employer will not sponsor applicants for employment visa status
- Experience with systems or software engineering on space-based systems
- Experience with architecture, ConOps and requirements for space-based systems and associated ground support systems
- Master’s degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry
- 3+ years of systems engineering experience
- 2 years of project management experience; PMP
- Strong spoken, written, and visual communication skills
- Experience working with cross-functional teams and external customers
- Experience in spacecraft, launch vehicles, autonomous systems, or unmanned systems
- Experience with spacecraft mission operations
- Experience applying Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) to space programs
- Broad knowledge across spacecraft subsystems
- Experience with spacecraft ground development
- For Associate level: typically 2 or more years' related work experience or equivalent combination of technical education and experience
- For Experienced level: typically 5 or more years' related work experience or equivalent combination of technical education and experience
- ABET accreditation preferred but not required
