About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Support the Ballistic Missile Defense System (BMDS) and C2BMC applications
- Work with industry partners to design, develop, maintain, and test Java-based applications
- Support the full software development lifecycle, including design artifacts, software changes, design and code reviews, software testing, and issue resolution
- Participate in agile planning and execution using established processes
- Develop software requirements and architecture for Missile Defense System systems
- Develop, select, tailor, and deploy integration and test processes, tools, and metrics
- Execute and document integration and test activities and events
- Mentor junior engineers
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent
- Active U.S. Secret Security Clearance; an active clearance from the past 24 months is considered active
- U.S. Citizenship Required
- U.S. Person status required for U.S. export control compliance
- Employer will not sponsor applicants for employment visa status
- Familiarity with the Agile software development process
- 2+ years of experience with backend development using Java, Spring, Oracle SQL, and SQL Server
- 2+ years working in a Unix or Linux environment
- 2+ years using development, deployment, and version control tools such as Git, Eclipse, Jira, and VersionOne
- 1+ year of experience with SysML Modeling Language
- Preferred: Bachelor of Science in engineering, engineering technology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
- Preferred: 3 or more years' related work experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Preferred: 5 or more years' related work experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Strong Java (J2EE/Java Spring) development experience
- Understanding of software development principles, OOP, design patterns, and testing/debugging techniques
- Understanding of system engineering design artifacts, including System Requirements, Use Cases, and SysML diagrams
- Experience with Eclipse for Java-based software applications
- Experience with Maven, Gradle, and/or microservices
- Experience with software performance optimization
- Experience with automated unit testing frameworks
- Experience developing Command and Control software applications
- Security+ or equivalent certification within 60 days of starting
- Knowledge of server-side development and message passing
- Occasional travel may be required, less than 10%
- Successful candidates must satisfy the Company’s Conflict of Interest assessment process
- Technical assessment required as part of the selection process
- Post-offer drug testing may apply
