Key responsibilities & impact
  • Support the Ballistic Missile Defense System (BMDS) and C2BMC applications
  • Work with industry partners to design, develop, maintain, and test Java-based applications
  • Support the full software development lifecycle
  • Generate design artifacts
  • Implement software changes
  • Support design and code reviews
  • Perform software testing and resolve issues found during testing
  • Participate in agile planning and execution
  • Develop software requirements and architecture for Missile Defense System systems
  • Develop, select, tailor, and deploy integration and test processes, tools, and metrics
  • Execute and document integration and test activities and events
  • Mentor junior engineers

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent
  • Active U.S. Secret Security Clearance; U.S. Citizenship Required
  • U.S. Person required for U.S. export control compliance
  • 2+ years of experience with backend development using Java, Spring, Oracle SQL, and SQL Server
  • 2+ years working in a Unix or Linux environment
  • 2+ years using Git, Eclipse, Jira, and VersionOne
  • 1+ year of experience with SysML Modeling Language
  • Familiarity with the Agile software development process
  • Preferred: Bachelor of Science degree in engineering, engineering technology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
  • Preferred: 3 or more years' related work experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Preferred: 5 or more years' related work experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Strong Java (J2EE/Java Spring) development experience
  • Understanding of OOP, design patterns, and testing/debugging techniques
  • Understanding of system engineering design artifacts, including System Requirements, Use Cases, and SysML diagrams
  • Experience using Eclipse to develop Java-based software applications
  • Experience using Maven, Gradle, and/or microservices
  • Experience with software performance optimization
  • Experience using automated unit testing frameworks
  • Experience developing Command and Control software applications
  • Security+ or equivalent certification within 60 days of starting
  • Knowledge of server-side development and message passing
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Occasional travel may be required, less than 10%
  • Must complete a technical assessment as part of the selection process
