About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead the global delivery of football VAR and semi-automated offside systems
- Ensure technology is deployed and run flawlessly for live sport events
- Own successful delivery of every event on time, on budget and to the highest standard
- Lead a global team of riggers, engineers and operators
- Reshape operating models to make delivery more efficient
- Act as the main point of contact for clients and manage expectations
- Communicate status, technical requirements and logistics to clients and partners
- Build and execute plans for equipment shipping, installation schedules and venue staffing worldwide
- Identify, find and hire full-time and freelance staff
- Implement quality control and provide on-site troubleshooting support
- Ensure operations meet local and international health and safety standards
- Conduct risk assessments and equipment checks
- Use performance data and client feedback for continuous improvement
- Manage event budgets, track costs and report regularly
- Work with procurement and finance to use resources effectively
- Ensure technical teams receive appropriate training and development
- Understand contractual obligations and ensure they are fulfilled
- Ensure every event is invoiced correctly and on time
- Build industry relationships and identify opportunities for growth
Requirements
What you’ll need- Proven operations management experience in sports technology or broadcasting, with a strong track record of delivering global projects
- Strong leadership, with experience coordinating cross-functional teams and pushing yourself and others to deliver world-leading products and services in a highly competitive space
- Ability to pick up projects and run with them independently
- Quick, sound decision-making, especially under pressure and against tight deadlines
- Technical competence and intellectual curiosity, with the ability to grasp new concepts and technology quickly and get to the bottom of complex problems
- Entrepreneurial mindset and willingness to challenge the status quo
- Excellent interpersonal and organisational skills
- Willingness to travel extensively and work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends around event schedules
- Experience working in live sports events or broadcasting environments
- Technical knowledge of camera systems, tracking software, and broadcasting equipment
- Familiarity with international logistics and experience managing projects in diverse cultural settings
- Proficiency in additional languages
- A degree in a STEM (Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics) subject
