About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Tutor elementary math using provided lesson content and practice extension materials
- Support students in grades K–8 across the United States
- Conduct consistent, recurring weekly virtual tutoring sessions
- Tutor during the school year from September to May
- Typically conduct 30-minute sessions
- Maintain attendance at least 80% of claimed sessions
- Set tutoring hours and claim individual sessions or recurring series
- Provide backup coverage by dropping unavailable sessions for peers to claim
- Participate in the application and onboarding process
- Potentially complete a five-minute recorded tutoring demonstration
- Complete onboarding, including payment account setup, an FBI background check, and paid tutor certification
Requirements
What you’ll need- Classroom teacher, EL/ESL/ELL, tutoring, coaching, or similar student support experience
- Online instruction experience
- College degree preferred
- Ability to deliver pre-designed, best-practice math lessons
- Ability to support students improving skills and topics at or below grade level
- Ability to build meaningful professional connections with students
- Ability to create an encouraging and motivating learning environment
- Ability to provide supportive student corrections
- Computer (laptop or desktop) with webcam
- Clean, distraction-free environment
- Reliable high-speed internet of at least 20 Mbps
- Reside in and tutor from one of the listed eligible U.S. states or Washington, DC
- All sessions must be claimed and conducted from within the 50 United States or Washington, DC
