About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Respond to crisis response service inquiries from child-serving organizations
  • Collect relevant information and conduct needs assessments for crisis response service delivery
  • Provide specialized crisis response sessions virtually and in person, with follow-up support as appropriate
  • Provide consultation to child-serving organizations on child abuse, victimization, exploitation and trauma-informed practices
  • Deliver training programs to professionals, paraprofessionals, students, caregivers and community members
  • Establish and maintain partnerships with external agencies to promote and grow the crisis response service model
  • Prepare, compile, submit and maintain accurate records, files, statistics and relevant information
  • Deliver PEP Talk violence-prevention programs in schools and community settings, in person and virtually
  • Build collaborative relationships with community partners
  • Contribute feedback to program content, training products and prevention messages
  • Contribute to service development, evaluations and educational activities
  • Support a diverse and inclusive workplace and comply with regulatory and legislative requirements

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • A post-secondary degree in Social Sciences, Health Sciences, Education or related field
  • Registration in good standing in an appropriate regulatory body
  • Sound knowledge of childhood trauma, particularly complex, developmental and intergenerational trauma, and child and adolescent development
  • Proven experience providing crisis assessment and intervention services to children, youth, families and/or professionals
  • Demonstrated training, teaching, or facilitation experience in face-to-face or virtual environments
  • Knowledge and application of diversity, equity and inclusion, trauma-informed, anti-oppressive, anti-racist and cultural competency practices
  • Direct experience collaborating with multidisciplinary professionals and community partners
  • Ability to screen for suicidality or other high-risk concerns and develop safety plans
  • Ability to employ self-care strategies and maintain a calm demeanor and positive attitude in stressful situations
  • Strong facilitation, public speaking and mediation skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and organizational skills; ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated flexibility, judgment, initiative, confidentiality and strong work ethic
  • Satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Screening clearance
  • Access to and use of a car
  • ASIST certification is considered an asset
