About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Evaluate, improve, and modernize IT systems for a major earth science data center
- Leverage and grow skills in digital engineering, MBSE, and earth science data to improve service delivery to worldwide users
- Assess relevant space requirements to enable development of architectures using advanced digital architecture tools
- Work with subject matter experts and stakeholders to uncover hidden insight
- Support IT solutions from ideation through decommissioning
- Support informed decision-making related to IT systems and services
- Understand, capture, and analyze data center architecture and IT systems
- Develop and maintain digital architecture models and associated systems documentation
- Recommend system improvements to reduce outages
Requirements
What you’ll need- 3+ years of experience as a systems engineer, network engineer, or IT system administrator
- Knowledge of systems engineering principles and IT systems
- Knowledge of IT project lifecycles and project management techniques
- Ability to communicate with organizational leadership, IT administrators, software developers, and systems engineers
- Ability to recommend system improvements to reduce outages
- Ability to develop and maintain digital architecture models and documentation associated with systems
- Ability to comprehend and analyze complex requirements, data flow, system connections, and system interconnections
- Ability to obtain a Secret clearance
- Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering or Computer Engineering
- Experience with data centers and enterprise architecture
- Experience with Cameo Systems Modeler, NoMagic MagicDraw, Sparx Enterprise Architect, IBM Rhapsody, or similar digital engineering tools
- Knowledge of MBSE principles
- Knowledge of System Modeling Language (SysML) or Unified Modeling Language (UML)
- Knowledge of GitLab or similar CI/CD technologies
- Knowledge of DevOps, OpenShift, Kubernetes, Docker, microservices architecture, and similar concepts
- Knowledge of space procedural requirements
- Knowledge of Agile or Scaled Agile methodologies, cloud architecture, and configuration management
- Excellent consultation, troubleshooting, and impact analysis skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
