About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Review and validate bills of material (BOMs), drawings, and specifications for accuracy before handoff
- Conduct basic material takeoffs and identify material gaps, alternates, and technical solutions
- Assist with quotations, vendor pricing, and competitive alternatives
- Prepare customer-facing project status updates, delivery schedules, and technical submittal packages
- Participate in customer and vendor meetings and lead small portions related to documentation, schedules, or open items
- Identify customer concerns, schedule issues, and material risks and escalate appropriately
- Manage project schedules, order logs, meeting notes, submittal tracking, RFIs, and change coordination
- Monitor project workflow and recommend corrective action to Project Managers or Account Managers
- Coordinate with Project Coordinators, purchasing, logistics, and vendors on material needs and timelines
- Assist with vendor quoting, order accuracy review, order entry, and material expediting
- Support project budget tracking or margin verification as directed
- Provide technical support on product selection, specification alignment, and substitution options
- Provide temporary project coverage during staff absences
- Participate in process improvement initiatives
- Assist with vendor negotiations and customer meeting setup
- Maintain negotiated pricing in bidding software and provide invoices
- Document missed opportunities
- Support product application, estimating, procurement, material management, staging, kitting, storage, job site delivery, and project closeout
- Contact vendors for pricing and assist with trade shows
- Attend required training programs
- Write orders in SAP and deliver material
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- Minimum of a business or trade degree preferred or the equivalent in work experience
- 2+ years of prior customer service, quotation, or sales experience
- Strong knowledge of electrical products and utility systems, preferred
- Comprehensive knowledge of product lines and applications, alternate product substitutes, and supplier pricing policies, preferred
- Proficiency in quoting software, preferred
- Ability to read, write and speak in English
- Strong working knowledge of PC for Windows, Microsoft Office (Excel, Word and PowerPoint), internet, email, and SAP software preferred
- Strong technical ability to understand electrical systems and product applications with prior electrical distribution experience, preferred
- Technical ability to read specifications and drawings highly preferred
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication, reading, and customer service skills
- Ability to effectively plan and organize and work well on a team
- Demonstrated initiative, attention to detail, and willingness to escalate risk appropriately
- Customer service mindset: competent, accurate, responsive, and engaged
- Ability to perform essential job duties with or without reasonable accommodation
- Successful completion of applicable pre-employment screenings, including a criminal background check required for all positions
