About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Develop and test software and firmware for Bose audio products, prototypes, and engineering tools
- Design, develop, and test embedded software and firmware for audio systems and engineering platforms
- Develop maintainable code using C/C++ and Python
- Prototype and integrate software on embedded processors and hardware platforms
- Develop automation tools to improve testing, performance measurement, and engineering workflows
- Debug, validate, and benchmark software performance in embedded environments
- Participate in code reviews and follow software development and version-control practices
- Create technical documentation for software design, implementation, testing, and validation
- Collaborate with software, DSP, acoustics, systems, and hardware engineering teams
- Work across the software development lifecycle from design and implementation through debugging, validation, and deployment
Requirements
What you’ll need- Currently pursuing a B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related field
- Programming experience with C/C++ and/or Python
- Coursework or project experience in embedded systems, software development, algorithms, computer architecture, or operating systems
- Strong problem-solving and debugging skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a hands-on engineering environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Preferred: Familiarity with embedded processors, RTOS, Linux, or embedded Linux
- Preferred: Experience with Git or other source-control tools
- Preferred: Knowledge of DSP, audio signal processing, or real-time audio systems
- Preferred: Experience with software testing, automation, CI/CD, or performance profiling
- Preferred: Familiarity with microcontrollers, ARM-based systems, device drivers, or hardware/software interfaces
- Preferred: Experience using laboratory equipment or working with electronic hardware
- Preferred: Passion for software, audio technology, embedded systems, and learning how things work
