About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Own quickstarts, notebooks, sample apps, and API walkthroughs that take developers from an API key to first audio and production-quality applications
- Build reference applications for real-time voice and avatar agents, STT + LLM + TTS pipelines, multilingual and expressive speech, streaming low-latency apps, and OpenAI Realtime API migrations
- Own ecosystem integrations including Pipecat, LiveKit, Twilio and SIP telephony, SGLang, and vLLM, from prototype through maintenance, documentation, and announcement
- Write blog posts, record demo videos and livestreams, give talks, and run workshops and hackathons
- Answer developer questions and triage issues across GitHub, Hugging Face, X, Reddit, and LinkedIn; build a Boson AI community
- Help developers evaluate quality, latency, cost, open weights versus hosted API, self-hosting versus managed services, streaming, tool calling, turn-taking, and multilingual behavior
- Translate developer friction into prioritized fixes with product, research, and engineering
- Lead the developer side of model and API launches, including docs, samples, release notes, demos, and community follow-through
- Define and report metrics including time to first audio, activation, integration adoption, and community growth
- Establish maintained reference apps, integration recipes, publishing cadence, community support, and developer-feedback reporting
Requirements
What you’ll need- 5+ years in developer relations, developer advocacy, solutions engineering, or software engineering, with a public track record of technical content, open-source work, or talks
- Strong Python, plus working comfort with JavaScript or TypeScript, REST and WebSocket APIs, and async and streaming code
- Hands-on experience building and shipping applications on AI APIs or models, such as LLM, speech, or vision
- Clear, engaging technical writing and speaking, with examples you can share
- The judgment to prioritize across content, community, and product feedback, and to work independently in a fast-moving startup
- Ability to use agentic AI efficiently in your work, so you can deliver at superhuman level
- Experience with real-time voice or audio: WebRTC, telephony, audio codecs, voice activity and turn detection, or voice-agent frameworks like Pipecat or LiveKit Agents
- Familiarity with speech models (TTS and ASR), voice cloning, or speech-quality evaluation
- Experience self-hosting models on GPUs with SGLang, vLLM, or similar serving stacks
- Experience maintaining open-source projects, including issue triage and community management
- Experience launching developer products, running hackathons, or building developer programs such as credits, ambassadors, or office hours
- An existing presence in the AI developer community
- Fluency in a language besides English
