About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide in-home support and teach practical skills to strengthen families
- Connect families with schools, healthcare, social services, and other community resources
- Offer crisis intervention and guidance
- Build relationships with families and collaborate with teachers, doctors, social workers, and other professionals
- Develop service plans, monitor progress, and maintain accurate documentation
- Facilitate family decision-making meetings
- Pursue or perform certification as a Parenting Instructor
- Perform other duties assigned by a supervisor
- Serve as a role model reflecting Boys Town’s mission, values, and principles
Requirements
What you’ll need- May qualify under the Rural Iowa Exception with four years of combined education and/or relevant experience working with children and families
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends
- Early mornings, evenings, weekends, and on-call hours may be required
- Bilingual skills are a plus
- Ability to work in stressful, potentially aggressive, indoor, outdoor, and substandard-home environments
- Ability to maintain sufficient strength, agility, and endurance during stressful physical, mental, and emotional situations
- Must support Boys Town’s mission and values
