About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Run lighting design projects from concept through construction administration
  • Carry the creative voice in design discussions
  • Build new relationships and push the lighting practice in new directions
  • Collaborate with the BR+A engineering team
  • Apply human-centric and sustainable lighting design principles
  • Balance advanced technical systems with design vision in healthcare, laboratory, proton and cancer therapy centers, and other specialized environments
  • Pursue landscape, exterior, corporate, hospitality, museum, and art installation lighting work
  • Mentor and direct junior designers
  • Develop and present design concepts to architects and clients
  • Work in the Boston office four days a week and remotely one day a week

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 8+ years designing architectural lighting, including leading projects and client relationships
  • Distinctive, confident design sensibility
  • Ability to originate a concept from first principles, carry it through every project phase, and sell it persuasively to architects and clients
  • Ability to mentor and direct junior designers
  • Ability to run projects with full autonomy
  • Degree from an accredited program specializing in lighting design, or a degree in architecture or interior design backed by strong experience and a compelling body of work
  • Fluency in Revit, AutoCAD, AGI32, Photoshop, and InDesign
  • LC or CLD certification required
  • Portfolio and resume required
  • Drug testing is a prerequisite for employment
