About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead a software engineering team executing product programs with cross-functional team leaders and individuals
  • Align software team strategy and direction with business goals
  • Drive continuous improvement of systems, products, and processes
  • Provide functional leadership, talent development, coaching, mentoring, and career development
  • Identify required competencies and develop recruiting and team-development strategies
  • Collaborate with Program Management to set priorities and resource programs and projects
  • Collaborate with the Principal Architect to develop code within the architectural framework meeting technical, functional, performance, and operational requirements
  • Collaborate with the Software Director to implement tools and processes optimizing software engineering throughput and quality
  • Ensure key milestones are met and delivered solutions are high quality
  • Lead change through creative solutions to unstructured product and system design issues
  • Optimize team participation in all phases of product development
  • Support existing products across Engineering, Manufacturing, Sourcing, Service, and Supplier Quality Engineering
  • Drive a culture of engineering excellence and commitment to quality
  • Communicate and implement company policies, procedures, and business ethics codes within the team
  • Work cross-functionally with technical and professional talent from various facilities and backgrounds

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or related field or equivalent work experience
  • 5+ years relevant software development experience
  • 2+ years project management experience
  • 2+ years of direct or indirect people leadership experience
  • Proven ability to work cross-functionality with global teams
  • Experience with the Agile Development Process
  • Proven mentoring and coaching abilities
  • Demonstrated ability to motivate and inspire others
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills with the demonstrated ability to gain buy-in for initiatives
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver results while working on multiple projects simultaneously, balancing resources, timing, and quality of outcomes
  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time
  • Preferred: Advanced degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field
  • Preferred: 7 years relevant industrial experience
  • Preferred: Experience developing Medical Device Software for 5+ years, or in a related regulated field
  • Preferred: Demonstrated ability to develop intellectual property
  • Preferred: Experience with MS Visual Studio, JIRA, GIT, and JAMA
  • Preferred: Experience with cloud development, particularly Microsoft Azure and IoT technologies
  • Preferred: Experience with security considerations within a hospital or clinical setting, including systems connected to RIS/PACS
  • Preferred: Experience leading a software engineering team
  • Preferred: Experience with automated testing practices and frameworks
  • Preferred: Fluency with clinical radiology terminology
  • Preferred: Knowledge of QSR, ISO/EN and Quality System Standards
  • Adheres to all company policies, procedures and business ethics codes
