About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Drive end-to-end execution excellence in System Engineering across the Diagnostic Imaging product portfolio
  • Partner with Product and Program Management teams to define and lead new product development, sustaining engineering, and advanced technology programs
  • Provide strategic technical leadership for the Diagnostic Imaging business
  • Champion innovation and functional excellence through cross-functional collaboration with the Cardio-Vascular Systems team
  • Own the technical direction of Diagnostic Imaging product designs and execute product and technology roadmaps
  • Lead a team of system engineers to deliver products and services based on customer needs
  • Contribute to the strategic technical roadmap for Diagnostic Imaging
  • Define technology roadmaps across the Bracco Medical Technologies portfolio
  • Prioritize sustaining engineering, new product development, and new technology projects and align resources
  • Translate business and customer needs into product requirements and objective acceptance criteria
  • Ensure requirements are testable and traceable
  • Continuously improve product development processes and team efficiency
  • Support the Diagnostic Imaging Product Roadmap and five-year Strategic Plan
  • Identify and leverage common technologies across the product portfolio
  • Develop budgets, timelines, and milestones with Program and Product Management
  • Lead technical development of diagnostic imaging medical device products meeting quality and customer requirements
  • Partner with Marketing, Quality, Manufacturing, Regulatory, and other cross-functional teams
  • Recruit, hire, develop, and manage system engineers
  • Provide talent development and technical mentoring
  • Align team resources with project milestones and corporate initiatives
  • Lead change management, communication, and strategy alignment for the Systems team
  • Communicate corporate objectives, goals, directives, and policies
  • Provide engineering leadership to keep projects on schedule, within budget, and compliant with FDA/ISO design-control requirements
  • Ensure documentation for design specifications, verification/validation test plans, and project schedules
  • Participate in vendor and fabrication-source selection
  • Work with Operations to support efficient design transfer into production
  • Partner with Marketing to identify and drive new product development opportunities

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in bio-medical engineering or related technology field
  • 3 - 5 years of experience in product and technology development
  • 1-2 years of experience leading technical teams
  • 5+ years’ experience in the medical device industry or highly regulated industry
  • Experience with developing and retaining top technical talent
  • Ability to lead people and achieve results through others
  • Ability to motivate, manage, and develop innovative project teams composed of scientific and technical personnel
  • Experience working in a matrix environment
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver on time, on budget in a fast-paced lean environment
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to interface, negotiate and influence multi-disciplinary teams and with different levels of personnel
  • Intrinsically curious, innovative thinker and problem solver
  • Strong business acumen and judgment
  • Ability to travel domestically up to 20% of the time
  • Occasional international travel
  • Preferred: Advanced degree in biomedical engineering or related technology field
  • Preferred: Product development experience in fluid management (contrast), diagnostic (FFR) and diagnostic imaging (CT, MR, XR, IVUS)
  • Preferred: Led exploration and development of derivative technologies into new markets
  • Preferred: Technical expertise in cardiovascular catheter design
  • Preferred: Strong systems level reliability experience
  • Preferred: Basic understanding of hospital networks and TCP/IP protocols
  • Preferred: Awareness and working knowledge of system level constraints in mechanical, electrical and software disciplines
  • Preferred: Knowledge of QSR, ISO/EN and Quality System Standards
  • Preferred: Business Development experience
  • Preferred: Understanding of medical literature and clinical data
