About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Execute work assigned by the Residential Hall Director
Assist with residential check-in and check-out, key inventory, staff evaluations, and community building
Facilitate training during student orientation
Attend weekly residence life staff meetings led by the Residential Hall Director
Meet with staff displaying behavior concerns through one-on-ones and Performance Improvement Plans, and document conduct meetings
Maintain the PA schedule and manage shift swaps, subject to Residential Hall Director approval
Receive and resolve or escalate suggestions and grievances from Senior Program Advisors
Conduct daily check-ins and serve as first response to student escalations
Document incidents and statements and escalate serious cases
Submit and track work orders and manage Pronto
Coordinate logistics, setup, and staffing for mandatory events
Attend weekly leadership meetings and manage ongoing residence staff development
Relay pertinent information to students in a suitable and timely manner
Attend co-curricular events and activities
Manage student interactions using student management software
Mentor and role-model PAs, students, and staff
Serve on-call and backup on-call shifts
Support communication with parents/guardians regarding student needs and concerns
Mediate conflicts
Remain within a 15-minute walk of campus after 11 p.m. on working nights when required
During overnight shifts, answer the emergency phone, respond to calls, follow escalation protocols, contact full-time on-call staff, travel with students or staff to hospitals or police stations when required, record incidents in a nightly log, and remain in the building/immediate area

Requirements

What you’ll need

Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
Bachelor’s degree
Minimum of 2 years of related work experience
Prior leadership experience
Prior work in a university program, boarding school, or as a guidance counselor is particularly desirable
Must be CPR certified or willing to obtain certification prior to the start of the program
Two references required
Must complete online training prior to move-in
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Excellent command of the English language
Ability to speak another language is a plus
Ability to sit, stand, walk, travel up and down stairs, crouch, stoop, and reach
Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
Must pass a criminal background check
Must successfully complete all training
Must use a personal cell phone
Must maintain sobriety during overnight shifts
