About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide strategic leadership and oversight of Studio BK/BRIC TV and Community Media
  • Align BRIC TV and Community Media and create pathways for Community Media producers to develop skills and access BRIC TV opportunities
  • Oversee programming, editorial direction, content development, production, and distribution
  • Guide original programming supporting emerging creators and reflecting Brooklyn’s communities
  • Identify co-production, licensing, distribution, partnership, audience-growth, and earned-revenue opportunities
  • Oversee production resources, workflows, facilities, equipment access, and programming priorities
  • Collaborate with Marketing, Development, Operations, Engineering, Education, and other BRIC teams
  • Strengthen engagement with Community Producers and maintain relationships with cable companies
  • Establish strategy, priorities, goals, and resources across BRIC’s Media portfolio with the Chief Program Officer
  • Supervise and develop the Associate Directors of Studio BK and Community Media
  • Oversee operating and capital budgets, forecasting, staffing plans, and resource allocation
  • Represent BRIC with partners, funders, community stakeholders, and industry peers

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 7+ years of progressive experience in media, television, community media, content production, or a related field, including leadership experience
  • Experience managing managers and multidisciplinary teams and developing staff
  • Strong knowledge of content development, production, editorial strategy, and digital and broadcast distribution
  • Experience developing community-based media programs and pathways for emerging creators
  • Strong strategic planning, project management, and organizational skills
  • Experience managing operating and capital budgets, staffing, and resources
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills across teams, communities, and external partners
  • Demonstrated commitment to equity, inclusion, and expanding access and opportunity
  • Bachelor’s degree in Media, Film, Communications, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience
  • Strong alignment with BRIC’s mission and commitment to Brooklyn’s creative community
  • Detail-oriented, with strong writing, grammar, proofreading, editing, communication, and accuracy skills
  • Emotionally intelligent, values- and results-driven leadership abilities
  • Commitment to operationalizing equity within fundraising and revenue-generation strategy
