About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Fill in when a Director is no longer present to run a camp
- Run seasonal break programs and pop-up childcare events throughout the year across the country
- Establish and build relationships with camp families
- Recruit, hire, train and lead seasonal teams
- Oversee logistics, compliance, operations and inventory management
- Create a dynamic, inclusive and growing camp community for campers, staff and families
- Deliver programs for children while ensuring safety, operational efficiency and profitability
- Support all stages of the employee life cycle for seasonal teams of up to 35
- Manage day camps running 7–12 weeks with 20–250 campers per day and manage other childcare events
- Handle crisis, emergency, behavioral and medical responses
- Manage customer contact, email and phone inquiries, customer service, and escalated matters
- Manage compliance processes and implement company, city and state policies
- Ensure adherence to six-figure program budgets
- Oversee inventory of hundreds of items valued in excess of six figures
- Maintain relationships with host schools and oversee site planning, janitorial arrangements, and security
- Perform on-site management during assigned camp programs
- Plan from home when camps are not in session while marketing, recruiting staff, and promoting camp as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- 3 years Administrative or Supervisory Experience in a Camp, Education or Childcare setting - Required
- Past management or leadership experience is required
- Experience hiring and managing teams of 5 or more
- Experience with multi-site management is preferred
- Bachelor's Degree - Preferred
- 5 years of relevant experience in lieu of degree considered
- Candidates who meet the ACA standard of being at least 25 years old are preferred
- Understanding of required quality camp standards
- Knowledge and ability to lead staff in implementation of developmentally appropriate program
- Experience and skill in communication, leadership, organization and supervision
- Sensitivity and responsiveness to needs of families, staff, and client/hosts
- Ability to perform job responsibilities in all levels of direct care
- Working knowledge and management of business operations and financial performance
- Proficiency with technology platforms such as HRIS, timekeeping, enrollment tracking and billing
- Strong leadership, supervisory and organizational skills
- Ability to handle multiple tasks
- Experience working in an inclusive work environment and managing across differences
- Willingness to obtain applicable required food handling/service certifications and/or training if applicable
- Ability to travel nationally; travel assignments may be unpredictable and urgent
