About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Serve as a translational team lead for neurological and neuropsychiatric indications
  • Set strategy for translational activities, including clinical biomarker activities, supporting drug development programs
  • Serve as a TM representative on global program teams and biomarker representative on study teams
  • Develop biomarker plans for individual trials and ensure appropriate collection, timely analysis, and reporting of final biomarker data
  • Answer key translational medicine questions through collaboration with laboratory teams and academic thought leaders
  • Design and implement program-specific late-development biomarker/translational plans
  • Aid in creating clinical protocols, SAPs, SOWs, and lab manuals
  • Interface with CROs for service execution alongside Biospecimen Operations and Procurement
  • Determine appropriate assays and vendors for clinical biomarkers
  • Manage outsourced biomarker assay development and validation
  • Manage clinical biomarker data delivery, analysis, and timelines with internal functions and CROs
  • Prepare and deliver internal and external translational/biomarker presentations
  • Maintain publication timelines in coordination with Medical Communications and Publication teams
  • Evaluate relevant scientific and technical literature and apply external knowledge to internal research programs
  • Work with laboratory scientists and academic thought leaders on nonclinical translational questions
  • Participate in post-hoc biomarker analysis and publication efforts
  • Support regulatory submissions and regulatory interactions

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • PhD or MD/PhD in neuroscience
  • 10+ years of translational medicine experience
  • 7+ years of late stage clinical biomarker experience in biotech/pharma
  • Recognized expertise in translational biomarkers in neurology
  • Experience in late-stage drug development and activities related to clinical trial initiation, maintenance and completion
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience interacting with CROs and TLs to manage projects and timelines
  • Proven scientific/leadership expertise, including working in teams, mentoring people, and managing projects
  • Ability to manage timelines and deliverables
  • Ability to prioritize risks and implement contingency plans
  • Ability to communicate regularly and prepare and deliver presentations to departments, governance, senior leadership, and external audiences
  • Ability to recognize cross-functional issues and provide expert guidance to multidisciplinary teams and senior management
