About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Serve as legal advisor to the Global Supply Chain organization on complex issues affecting clinical and commercial product supply networks
- Advise on global trade matters including tariffs, trade remedies, customs and import/export compliance, economic sanctions, export controls, and trade-related licensing
- Develop practical trade compliance and mitigation strategies with Customs & Trade leads
- Advise on human rights matters including forced-labor due diligence, responsible sourcing, supply-chain transparency, and emerging human-rights laws and standards
- Assess risks and develop mitigation strategies with business and compliance stakeholders
- Monitor global trade and supply-chain regulations and enforcement trends
- Advise senior leadership on business impact, risk mitigation, and opportunities
- Draft, review, and negotiate complex supply, logistics, transportation, and warehousing agreements
- Advise on supply disruption, business continuity, and crisis-response matters
- Collaborate across Law & Policy, including regulatory, ESG, policy, litigation, and IP colleagues, to provide coordinated legal support
Requirements
What you’ll need- JD (or equivalent)
- Admission in good standing to at least one U.S. state bar
- Qualified, or able to become qualified, to practice in-house in New Jersey
- 8 or more years of legal experience across law firm, in-house, and/or government roles
- Experience in the pharmaceutical or life sciences industry
- Experience in human rights, customs, international trade, sanctions, or supply chain matters is preferred
- Experience structuring and negotiating complex commercial transactions is preferred
- Ability to build strong relationships and advise and influence senior executives, including SVP and C-suite stakeholders, on high-impact legal and regulatory matters
- Ability to lead across large, global, matrixed organizations and bring stakeholders together to resolve complex issues efficiently
- Excellent judgment and ability to independently prioritize and manage multiple projects
- Ability to work with speed and quality across a broad range of matters
- Ability to communicate complex issues clearly and concisely, verbally and in writing, to senior leaders
