About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Support project teams and internal stakeholders on construction, compliance, employment, and other civil law matters
  • Provide legal opinions on construction and real estate law, compliance, employment law, and other civil matters
  • Advise project teams and business units throughout construction, development, and operations
  • Conduct in-depth contract reviews
  • Deliver periodic internal training sessions
  • Provide legal advice on project management issues and subcontractor claims
  • Negotiate, draft, revise, and manage construction contracts, subcontracts, and material and equipment supply contracts
  • Negotiate, draft, revise, and manage construction claims
  • Prepare legal opinions and draft legal correspondence for construction projects
  • Manage disputes arising during or after the construction process
  • Maintain case files and gather relevant information for external counsel handling litigation matters
  • Advise departments and business units on regulatory and corporate compliance obligations
  • Provide legal support on employment contracts, workplace policies, and labor and employment disputes
  • Handle general civil matters, including corporate, insurance, and general contract matters
  • Work closely with other members of the legal team

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • At least 3 years of legal experience, ideally including experience in construction (residential, industrial, commercial, and/or institutional projects), compliance, employment, or other civil matters
  • Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) and member of the Barreau du Québec
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both French and English
  • Ability to manage multiple files simultaneously
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Autonomous, proactive, and professional
