About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Join Bronson Healthcare’s growing Infectious Disease program in Kalamazoo and Battle Creek, Michigan
  • Work alongside 2 physicians and 1 other APP
  • Provide comprehensive Infectious Diseases services in the inpatient setting at Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo, MI
  • Collaborate with other medical specialties
  • Collaborate with hospital epidemiology and Infection prevention teams
  • Provide primarily inpatient service Monday–Friday, 8 a.m.–5 p.m.
  • Share call responsibilities with other providers
  • Use the EPIC EMR fully integrated within the Bronson Healthcare system
  • Perform comprehensive and problem-focused histories and physical examinations
  • Interpret laboratory, radiologic, EKG, and imaging tests
  • Interpret and correlate subjective and objective patient data and formulate diagnoses
  • Develop treatment plans under physician direction within scope of practice
  • Coordinate care with the multidisciplinary team to facilitate patient progress toward outcomes, including discharge or transfer
  • Act as a clinical resource for the multidisciplinary team
  • Apply preventative measures for common patient complications
  • Assist in developing and integrating quality measures and evidence into clinical practice
  • Perform comprehensive assessments for utilization review and determine appropriate level of care
  • Apply regulatory and third-party payer criteria
  • Facilitate timely discharges and transfers
  • Evaluate and appropriately manage patients
  • Complete documentation supporting billing, medical care, orders, and progress notes
  • Answer nursing questions and evaluate patient status changes

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Successful completion of an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner Program
  • Current unrestricted or pending Licensure in the state of Michigan
  • Ideal Candidate will have Infectious disease experience
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Commitment to providing compassionate and quality patient-centered care
  • Licensure as Physician Assistant and state DEA license to prescribe medications
  • Current prescriptive authority and collaborative agreement with oversight physician(s) should also be in place
  • Must maintain all requirements for medical staff privileges
  • Ability to utilize word processing, spreadsheet, presentation programs, and other software relevant to the job
  • Regularly communicates clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing (Utilizing SBAR technique)
