About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Perform pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical examinations on human specimens
- Support healthcare providers in diagnosing, treating, and monitoring patients
- Perform specimen processing, testing, and reporting of results
- Verify instrument functionality, conduct maintenance, and troubleshoot analyzers
- Communicate critical values promptly to healthcare providers
- Assist in evaluating new testing methods and instrumentation
- Perform venipuncture and capillary punctures as required
- Work across laboratory disciplines including chemistry, hematology, and blood bank
Requirements
What you’ll need- Completion of an NAACLS-approved Medical Laboratory Technician program, or an associate degree with 60 semester hours and completion of a military medical laboratory training course, or enrollment in a NAACLS-accredited program graduating within 60 days
- Must be registry eligible and complete certification within one year of hire (ASCP, AMT, or equivalent)
- Maintain certification throughout employment
- Availability for irregular hours, including overtime, holidays, and on-call shifts
- Regular standing/walking and ability to lift light objects up to 20 lbs
- Ability to operate a computer for 70–90% of the time
- Ability to work with exposure to chemicals and biological materials while adhering to safety policies
- High attention to detail
