About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Diagnose illnesses and prescribe and administer treatment
- Examine patients and obtain medical histories
- Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic tests
- Counsel patients regarding preventive healthcare, hygiene, and diet
- Interview, examine, and treat clinical patients
- Educate patients and families on wellness, prevention, and early detection
- Determine required referrals and follow-up urgency
- Exercise final medical judgment on healthcare issues
- Prescribe medical treatment and clinical drugs
- Order studies, tests, and ancillary services
- Document services in patient medical records
- Review long-term cases requiring ongoing medical attention
- Consult with the Medical Director and other staff regarding patient care, assessment, and education
- Participate in process improvement, management, continuing education, and patient care programs
- Oversee assigned mid-level medical and nursing clinical staff
- Assist with patient complaints, requests, and inquiries
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information
- Provide outstanding customer service
Requirements
What you’ll need- Board Certified/Board Eligible Emergency Medicine Physician
- Medical degree
- 2 years of direct or intern experience
- Current Medical License in the state of Michigan
- Current DEA and DPS Certificate of Registration
- Must maintain all requirements for medical staff privileges
- Knowledge of and ability to apply professional medical principles, procedures, and techniques
- Thorough knowledge of pharmacological agents used in patient treatment
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Must demonstrate competencies specific to the population served when providing direct patient care
