About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide inpatient medical care at Bronson facilities in Kalamazoo and Battle Creek
  • Cover both hospitals on a rotating schedule of days, weekends, and nights as required
  • Work required weekends
  • Round with residents through Bronson’s affiliation with Western Michigan Medical School
  • Provide medical patient care by interviewing, examining, and treating clinical patients
  • Educate patients and families on wellness, prevention, and early detection
  • Determine required referrals and urgency of follow-up or consultation appointments
  • Exercise final medical judgment on healthcare issues
  • Prescribe medical treatment and clinical drugs
  • Order studies, tests, and ancillary services
  • Document services in patient medical records
  • Review long-term cases requiring ongoing medical attention
  • Consult with the Medical Director and other professionals regarding patient care, assessment, and education
  • Participate in process improvement, management, continuing education, and other patient care programs
  • Oversee assigned mid-level medical staff and nursing clinical staff
  • Assist with patient complaints, requests, and inquiries
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient information
  • Demonstrate outstanding customer service aligned with Bronson’s mission, values, and standards

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Internal Medicine Board Certified/Board Eligible physician
  • Prior completion of a residency in Internal Medicine
  • Medical degree
  • 2 years of direct or intern experience
  • Current and unrestricted state medical license as MD/DO
  • Current Medical License in the state of Michigan
  • Current DEA and DPS Certificate of Registration
  • Must maintain all requirements for medical staff privileges
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Commitment to providing compassionate and quality patient-centered care
  • Knowledge of and ability to apply professional medical principles, procedures, and techniques
  • Thorough knowledge of pharmacological agents used in patient treatment
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Proper telephone etiquette
  • Must be able to perform work requiring sustained alertness and concentration
  • Must be able to stand or walk considerably, lift light-weight objects up to 20 pounds, and assist with lifting and moving patients
  • Must be able to maintain patient confidentiality according to federal guidelines and regulations
