About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide inpatient medical coverage for facilities in Kalamazoo and Battle Creek
  • Cover both hospitals on a rotating schedule of days, weekends and nights as required
  • Work weekends
  • Round with residents through Bronson’s affiliation with Western Michigan Medical School
  • Provide medical patient care by interviewing, examining and treating clinical patients
  • Educate patients and families on wellness, prevention and early detection
  • Determine required referrals and urgency of follow-up or consultation appointments
  • Exercise final medical judgment in health care issues
  • Prescribe medical treatment and clinical drugs
  • Order studies, tests and ancillary services
  • Document all services in patient medical records
  • Review long-term cases requiring ongoing medical attention
  • Consult with the Medical Director and other staff regarding patient care, assessment and education
  • Participate in process improvement, management, continuing education and other patient care programs
  • Oversee assigned mid-level medical staff and nursing clinical staff
  • Assist with patient complaints, requests and inquiries
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient information according to federal guidelines and regulations
  • Demonstrate outstanding customer service consistent with Bronson’s mission and values

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Internal Medicine Board Certified/Board Eligible physician
  • Prior completion of a residency in Internal Medicine
  • Medical degree and 2 years of direct or intern experience required
  • Current and Unrestricted State Medical License as MD/DO and DEA Licensure
  • Current Medical License in the state of Michigan
  • Current DEA and DPS Certificate of Registration
  • Must maintain all requirements for medical staff privileges
  • Knowledge of and ability to apply professional medical principles, procedures, and techniques
  • Thorough knowledge of pharmacological agents used in patient treatment
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills along with proper telephone etiquette
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Commitment to providing compassionate and quality patient-centered care
