About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide inpatient medical care at Bronson Methodist Hospital and Bronson Battle Creek
- Provide medical patient care by interviewing, examining and treating clinical patients
- Cover both hospitals on a rotating schedule of days, weekends and nights as required
- Educate patients and families on wellness, prevention and early detection
- Determine required referrals and urgency of follow-up or consultation appointments
- Exercise final medical judgment on healthcare issues
- Prescribe medical treatment and clinical drugs
- Order studies, tests and ancillary services
- Document all services in patient medical records
- Review long-term cases requiring ongoing medical attention
- Consult with the Medical Director and other staff regarding patient care, assessment and education
- Participate in process improvement, management, continuing education and other hospital or clinic programs
- Oversee assigned mid-level medical staff and nursing clinical staff
- Assist with patient complaints, requests and inquiries
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information
- Provide outstanding customer service consistent with Bronson’s mission and values
Requirements
What you’ll need- Internal Medicine Board Certified/Board Eligible physician
- Prior completion of a residency in Internal Medicine
- Medical degree and 2 years of direct or intern experience required
- Current and Unrestricted State Medical License as MD/DO and DEA Licensure
- Current Medical License in the state of Michigan
- Current DEA and DPS Certificate of Registration
- Must maintain all requirements for medical staff privileges
- Knowledge of and ability to apply professional medical principles, procedures, and techniques
- Thorough knowledge of pharmacological agents used in patient treatment
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Effective verbal and written communication skills along with proper telephone etiquette
- Commitment to providing compassionate and quality patient-centered care
- Performs in a tactful and professional manner
