About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide inpatient critical care services in the Bronson Battle Creek Hospital and Bronson Methodist Hospital Medical Intensive Care Units
  • Manage patients in Medical, Neurologic, and Cardiothoracic ICUs
  • Work with medical students and residents from Western Michigan University’s school of medicine
  • Provide medical patient care by interviewing, examining, and treating clinical patients
  • Educate patients and families on wellness, prevention, and early detection
  • Determine required referrals and urgency of follow-up or consultation appointments
  • Exercise final medical judgment in health care matters
  • Prescribe medical treatment and clinical drugs
  • Order studies, tests, and ancillary services
  • Document services in patient medical records
  • Review long-term cases requiring ongoing medical attention
  • Consult with the Medical Director and other staff regarding patient care, assessment, and education
  • Participate in process improvement, management, continuing education, and other patient care programs
  • Oversee assigned mid-level medical staff and nursing clinical staff
  • Assist with patient complaints, requests, and inquiries
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and provide outstanding customer service

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • BE/BC Critical Care physician
  • Fellowship Trained in Critical Care
  • Current unrestricted or pending Licensure in the state of Michigan
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Commitment to providing compassionate and quality patient-centered care
  • Medical degree and 2 years of direct or intern experience required
  • Current Medical License in the state of Michigan
  • Current DEA and DPS Certificate of Registration
  • Must maintain all requirements for medical staff privileges
  • Knowledge of and ability to apply professional medical principles, procedures, and techniques
  • Thorough knowledge of pharmacological agents used in patient treatment
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills along with proper telephone etiquette
  • Must be able to work variable shifts and 40 scheduled weekly hours
