About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Plan and organize clinical support staff and their functions
- Support providers in clinical duties and support the Practice Manager
- Provide day-to-day continuity of leadership
- Act as a role model, mentor, coach, and resource for staff
- Maintain practice standards and encourage a team environment
- Assist with hiring, orientation, performance monitoring and evaluation, problem solving, employee counseling, staffing, and payroll
- Resolve clinical issues related to day-to-day office operations
- Serve as a contact for internal and external customers
- Foster positive customer service and meet quality standards
- Implement new processes and monitor ongoing processes
- Support practice and organizational goals
- Coordinate day-to-day clinical practice operations
- Supervise practice clinical staff
- Manage changes in census, acuity, staffing levels, and patient flow
- Support staff in providing patient care
- Assess and direct resource allocation
- Assign staff and delineate patient care
- Facilitate orientation, conduct annual reviews, and provide staff feedback
- Validate clinical skills of registered nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses, and Medical Assistants
- Participate in creating, reviewing, and administering policies and procedures
- Provide weekly payroll updates
- Manage clinical inventory, ordering, and narcotic inventory
- Monitor immunizations and control vaccines
- Provide equipment in-services
- Maintain OSHA, CLIA, MCIR, and other standards and policies compliance
- Manage difficult situations using diplomatic problem-solving skills
- Provide support to the Practice Manager
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- Diploma, Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, or advanced degree licensure in a related specialty area
- 3 years of relevant and recent clinical experience
- Previous experience leading and managing clinical staff preferred
- Current RN license or advanced degree license for specialty-specific areas in good standing in the state of Michigan
- BLS certification required by completion of core orientation
- PALS or ALS required for some RNs, unit specific
- Digestive Health: Bachelor’s degree in Nursing preferred, must obtain within 8 years of hire
- Digestive Health: Licensed Registered Nurse in good standing for the state of Michigan
- Skill level encompassing all clinical aspects of practice management
- Ability to work with and lead a variety of people
- Independent decision-making ability
- Ability to work with customers in challenging situations
- Ability to read, interpret, and analyze data from computer systems, reporting mechanisms, and equipment
- Organization and prioritization skills
- Knowledge and skill in proper charting methods
- Excellent oral, face-to-face, telephone, and written communication skills
- Ability to maintain positive rapport with leadership and providers
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive matters tactfully
- Ability to give easily understood directions
- High self-motivation, strong initiative, and effective communication skills
- Ability to stand, walk, lift light-weight objects up to 20 pounds, and assist with lifting and moving patients
