About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Support assigned districts and schools in integrating financial education and consumer protection education
- Work with district staff, school leadership, teachers, parent coordinators, and school staff to plan programming, events, activities, and learning opportunities
- Collaborate with teachers and support staff to implement traditional and non-traditional learning opportunities
- Support teacher professional development activities in financial literacy and financial education content
- Lead financial and consumer protection education workshops for public school students and families
- Schedule and promote workshops and recruit participants
- Deliver DCWP-provided workshop content and curriculum
- Collect and enter workshop participant data, assessments, surveys, and qualitative insights
- Promote and support use of the Financial Education Resource Hub
- Assist with vetting financial education resources and provide feedback to DCWP and NYCPS
- Provide free one-on-one financial counseling and coaching sessions
- Schedule and conduct in-person or remote counseling and coaching sessions
- Collect and record client data and outcomes
- Support in-school banking and facilitate connections with banks and credit unions
- Co-lead banking presentations and workshops
- Connect eligible students and families with financial health and asset-building opportunities
- Maintain accurate program records for funding compliance and internal standards
- Participate in professional development training, workshops, and learning communities
- Perform other duties as assigned by BronxWorks
Requirements
What you’ll need- A bachelor’s degree and a minimum of two (2) years of full-time work experience with a preferred background in finance, financial education, counseling/coaching, education or social or youth service delivery, OR four (4) to eight (8) years of full-time work experience in financial education, counseling/coaching, education or social or youth service delivery
- Candidates who is fluent in both English and Spanish are encouraged to apply
- Ability to explain complex financial concepts in simple terms
- Ability to teach financial skills in one-on-one or group settings
- Ability to understand diverse learning needs
- Ability to use learning management systems
- Experience with lesson planning and classroom management
- Experience with creating or delivering workshops and educational materials
- Ability to use a computer for prolonged periods
- Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds
- Ability to stand, walk, or sit for long periods of time
- Ability to bend and retrieve objects and/or documents
- Ability to commute within the Bronx
