About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Supervise and manage all aspects of high-quality program service delivery for vulnerable populations
- Supervise Assistant Directors, Group Leaders, Youth Leaders, Office Manager and Activity Specialists
- Provide on-site staff coverage when needed
- Oversee day-to-day activities and events of the center
- Develop educational and recreational summer and school-year programming
- Ensure programs achieve measurable goals and comply with BCS mission, DYCD contracts, and funder/regulatory requirements
- Report to and maintain direct contact with DYCD Program Manager
- Oversee DYCD site/audit visits and attend DYCD Director meetings
- Monitor the DYCD Cornerstone Database and review weekly ROP/ADA and enrollment reports
- Recruit, engage and monitor co-locator and subcontractor relationships
- Plan and support participant recruitment, enrollment, retention and referral efforts
- Coordinate and attend Resident Association meetings
- Develop and ensure compliance with Youth Council meetings
- Maintain supplies and equipment inventory according to budget mandates
- Recruit, hire, train, schedule, evaluate and process payroll for center staff
- Develop and implement staff professional development workshops
- Participate in cross-agency working groups, committees, training seminars, division staff meetings and community meetings
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s Degree in Child Development or Elementary Education with strong management experience required
- 5 years or more of strong management experience
- MSW, MPA, MPH or equivalent Master’s Degree preferred
- Excellent leadership, communication, supervisory and team-building skills
- Ability to motivate staff, align staff efforts to changing priorities and approaches, set goals, delegate responsibilities, and manage staff performance
- Experience with community-based services for youth, children and families
- Experience advocating with participants in NYCHA housing developments
- Proven ability to manage professional staff and interact with the community using a strength-based perspective
- Ability to develop new programs and meet community needs with compassion and innovation
- Hands-on strategic thinking, planning and problem-solving abilities
- Comfort communicating with service recipients and families, training staff, and presenting before elected officials, public agency administrators and community members
- Experience with government contracts and nonprofit organizations providing social services
- Experience managing crisis intervention, mental health and medical issues with participants, and working with people with histories of trauma
- Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 unless granted a medical or religious accommodation
