About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Partner with project managers to maintain project budgets, estimates to complete, and financial forecasts
Monitor project financial performance, including revenue, costs, profitability, work in process, and budget variances
Identify emerging financial risks and trends
Oversee timely and accurate project billing, including review of unbilled WIP and aged receivables
Resolve billing and collection issues
Review project-related transactions for accuracy, proper coding, and contractual compliance
Support project setup, changes, and close-outs throughout the project financial lifecycle
Collaborate with project managers, clients, subconsultants, and vendors on financial matters
Perform project audits and reconciliations
Prepare and present project financial reports and statements
Identify and resolve project accounting and billing issues and discrepancies
Improve project accounting processes, reporting, and workflows through technology, automation, and continuous improvement
Prepare and send invoices, collect payments, and follow up on overdue accounts

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field
Minimum of 5 years of experience in project accounting or similar role
Proficient in accounting software
Deltek Vantagepoint experience is a plus
Demonstrated understanding of project accounting, WIP, and contract-based billing
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
Strong Excel, Word, and Adobe Acrobat skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Public billing experience is a plus
Experience in construction, engineering, transportation, consulting, or other professional services environments is preferred
