About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Plan, set up, and maintain layout control for assigned construction projects and identify unacceptable errors
  • Ensure projects are built to correct tolerances and quality standards are followed
  • Establish building corners and permanent reference points for back checks of building location
  • Verify existing elevations shown on drawings used on roadways and utilities
  • Lay out column center lines and wall locations and verify exterior skin is not encroached by the main structure
  • Plumb structural steel frames and check column alignments
  • Set and maintain benchmarks and control lines on each floor
  • Check slab elevation and alignment during concrete pours
  • Perform as-built surveys to verify work placement and identify conflicts
  • Assist project staff with certified layout from independent engineering resources
  • Calculate earth, rock, and concrete quantities
  • Coordinate shop drawings with contract drawings, verify accuracy, and propose solutions to discrepancies
  • Care for, maintain, and calibrate engineering equipment
  • Compile and maintain project record and as-built documents and ensure storage protocols are followed

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Three (3) or more years of experience in Building Layout and using Total Station
  • Graduation from relevant trade school with certificate in surveying, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  • Basic understanding of Trimble and Nikon equipment (preferred)
  • Basic understanding of research methodology, data analysis, and estimation metrics (preferred)
  • Experience within general trade carpentry (preferred)
  • Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S.
  • Successful completion of pre-employment screening, including drug and background screening
