About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Operate all equipment safely and appropriately to mitigate risk of injury and property damage
- Drive and control equipment to complete tasks at specified locations
- Collaborate with internal and external partners to prepare job sites for assigned equipment activities
- Monitor surroundings and maintain safe ground, slope, equipment, people, and structure distances
- Perform daily equipment pre-inspections and ongoing maintenance checks
- Address equipment issues and concerns with the assigned supervisor
- Load and unload equipment from transport vehicles
- Notify the assigned supervisor of maintenance needs
- Complete reports and paperwork related to equipment use
- Troubleshoot basic equipment issues and escalate issues as appropriate
- Communicate through phone, radio, visible verbal, and nonverbal hand signals
Requirements
What you’ll need- High school diploma or its equivalent
- Minimum three (3) to five (5) years of equipment operating experience in a construction environment, including one (1) to three (3) years of excavation experience
- Equivalent combination of the above education, training, and experience
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations regarding excavation methods and practices
- Able to perform duties while using required PPE
- Able to read and properly interpret load charts for associated equipment and manufacturer approved attachments
- Able to perform duties while working in all safe outdoor weather conditions
- Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S.
- Successful completion of pre-employment screening, including drug and background screening
