About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Design, build, and operate on-premises Kubernetes environments
  • Automate infrastructure processes using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools
  • Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines
  • Monitor, log, and implement alerting for the platform
  • Implement Network Policies and Service Mesh, and optimize east-west traffic
  • Ensure high availability, scalability, and resilience of the container platform
  • Integrate new services and microservices into the Kubernetes environment
  • Troubleshoot and optimize performance in complex cluster environments
  • Implement security measures such as RBAC, secrets management, network policies, and image scanning
  • Integrate and operate bare-metal storage solutions for Kubernetes
  • Manage CSI drivers and distributed storage systems
  • Manage the lifecycle of Kubernetes clusters and associated system components
  • Work closely with development teams to promote DevOps practices
  • Create documentation and operational concepts, and continuously enhance technical standards

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Extensive experience operating Kubernetes on premises, rather than exclusively in managed cloud environments
  • Knowledge of container technologies such as Docker, containerd, or CRI-O
  • Experience with Service Mesh
  • Proven experience building and operating CI/CD pipelines
  • Experience with monitoring and observability
  • Very strong Linux administration skills, particularly with Ubuntu, RHEL, or SLES
  • Knowledge of scripting and automation; Bash and Python required, Go is an advantage
  • Knowledge of virtualization technologies
  • Knowledge of high-availability and cluster design
  • Networking knowledge covering TCP/IP, load balancing, Ingress, firewalls, and DNS
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code technologies such as Ansible and Terraform in regulated environments
  • Experience with storage systems in Kubernetes
  • Experience with GitOps or configuration automation
  • Certifications such as CKA, CKAD, or CKS are a plus
  • Strong team spirit and a high sense of responsibility when operating critical systems
  • Open-mindedness toward new technologies and projects
  • Enthusiasm for working with open-source tools
