About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Manage ongoing daily operations, sales and high-volume stock management within the specialist department
  • Report to the Assistant Site Manager and Site Manager
  • Lead and develop a team of 20+ team members
  • Perform duty manager responsibilities, including opening and closing the store across weekdays and weekends
  • Collaborate with Department Managers in Service, Inside the Home, Builders, and Lifestyles & Garden
  • Build team capability in Best Experience and Safety Culture & Compliance
  • Manage team engagement, performance, and recognition
  • Roster and strategically plan the team to deliver the service promise
  • Drive department sales through merchandising and monitoring key metrics
  • Monitor and measure customer service levels
  • Action customer feedback to improve the end-to-end customer experience
  • Maintain department stock accuracy, replenishment discipline and loss prevention processes
  • Liaise with Merchandising, Store Leadership, Health and Safety teams, and suppliers
  • Ensure the department showcases the Widest Range and Best Prices

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Must be age 15 or over to apply
  • Previous experience leading teams in the retail industry or a large, high volume customer focused organisation
  • Experience leading teams with a focus on Safety and Wellbeing and Specialist products preferred
  • Ability to lead and inspire a large team of 20+
  • Strong leadership and influencing skills
  • Ability to champion a Safe & Secure environment and ensure compliance with policies and procedures
  • Experience opening and closing the store and supporting smooth trade across weekdays and weekends
  • Ability to build team capability through clear expectations, performance conversations and recognition
  • Experience with effective rostering and planning
  • Knowledge of merchandising, sales performance, stock accuracy, availability and loss prevention
  • Ability to understand KPIs and exceed customer expectations
  • Ability to work a minimum of 1 in 3 weekends and some public holidays
  • Background checks may be required, including police, employment, medical and qualification checks
