About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Manage ongoing daily operations, sales and high-volume stock management within the specialist department
  • Lead a team of 20+ team members and maintain an engaged and safe work environment
  • Perform duty manager responsibilities, including opening and closing the store across weekdays and weekends
  • Work closely with Department Managers across Service, Inside the Home, Builders, and Lifestyles & Garden
  • Report to the Assistant Site Manager and Site Manager
  • Train, develop, coach and recognize team members
  • Build team capability on Best Experience and Safety Culture & Compliance
  • Manage rostering and strategic planning to deliver the service promise
  • Drive department sales through merchandising and monitoring key metrics
  • Monitor and measure customer service levels
  • Action customer feedback to improve the end-to-end customer experience
  • Own department stock accuracy, adjustments, replenishment discipline and loss prevention processes
  • Liaise with Merchandising, Store Leadership, Health and Safety teams and suppliers

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Must be age 15 or over to apply
  • Previous experience leading teams in the retail industry or a large, high volume customer-focused organisation
  • Experience leading teams with a focus on safety and wellbeing and specialist products preferred
  • Ability to lead and inspire a large team of 20+
  • Strong leadership, influencing, coaching and teamwork skills
  • Ability to champion a safe and secure environment and ensure compliance with policies and procedures
  • Experience opening and closing the store and supporting smooth trade across weekdays and weekends
  • Ability to build team capability through clear expectations, performance conversations and recognition
  • Experience with effective rostering and strategic planning
  • Knowledge of merchandising, sales performance, stock accuracy, availability and loss prevention
  • Ability to understand KPIs and exceed customer expectations
  • Availability for a minimum of 1 in 3 weekend roster and some public holiday work
  • Successful applicants may be subject to police, employment, medical and qualification background checks
