About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Manage daily operations, sales and high-volume stock management within the specialist department
  • Report to the Operations Manager and Complex Manager
  • Lead and develop a team of 20+ team members
  • Perform duty manager responsibilities, including opening and closing the store
  • Work with fellow Department Managers across Service, Inside the Home, Builders, and Lifestyles & Garden
  • Train and develop team members in customer experience, safety culture and compliance
  • Monitor and measure customer service levels
  • Liaise with Merchandising, Store Leadership and Health and Safety teams
  • Develop strong relationships with suppliers
  • Manage rostering and strategic planning
  • Drive department sales through merchandising and monitoring key metrics
  • Action customer feedback to improve the end-to-end customer experience
  • Own department stock accuracy, adjustments, replenishment discipline and loss prevention processes
  • Maintain an engaged and safe work environment
  • Support smooth store trade across weekdays and weekends

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Must be age 15 or over to apply
  • Previous experience leading teams in the retail industry or a large, high volume customer-focused organisation
  • Experience leading teams with a focus on safety and wellbeing and specialist products preferred
  • Strong leadership and influencing skills
  • Ability to lead and inspire a team of 20+
  • Ability to champion a safe and secure environment and ensure compliance with policies and procedures
  • Experience opening and closing the store and supporting smooth trade across weekdays and weekends
  • Ability to build team capability through clear expectations, performance conversations and recognition
  • Ability to deliver effective rostering and strategic planning
  • Knowledge of merchandising, sales performance, stock accuracy, availability and loss prevention
  • Ability to understand KPIs and exceed customer expectations
  • Availability for a minimum of 1 in 3 weekends and some public holidays
  • Ability to work across weekdays and weekends
