About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Perform commissioning, retro-commissioning, and/or monitoring-based commissioning projects
  • Potentially perform facilities condition assessments, construction administration, plan review, and plan checks
  • Manage projects from concept through construction
  • Interface with clients, contractors, and facility operations personnel
  • Act as the commissioning authority and designated agent for the commissioning scope of services
  • Review designs and design criteria to assess expected performance
  • Provide design review comments related to commissioning
  • Develop commissioning plans
  • Conduct commissioning meetings
  • Review construction submittals related to commissioning
  • Verify installation and functional performance of HVAC, building automation, lighting control, plumbing domestic hot water, and other systems
  • Develop pre-functional test procedures and checklists
  • Oversee functional performance testing and complete testing forms
  • Complete and submit commissioning reports
  • Oversee contractor-provided operator training and review training materials
  • Complete warranty-phase commissioning follow-up
  • Travel to client sites across the U.S., including possible overnight stays

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Minimum five years professional experience within construction realm
  • 5+ years of experience specifically in commissioning, including commissioning of comparable projects in size and complexity
  • Accredited Commissioning Certification such as CxA (Certified Commissioning Authority), CCP (Certified Commissioning Professional) or BCxP (Building Commissioning Professional)
  • Valid driver's license required with no significant MVA points/violations (clean driving record)
  • Expertise in commissioning software such as Facility Grid and CxAlloy
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, with strong emphasis on MS Excel
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment and work independently
  • Ability to traverse, observe equipment, and record data and photos on safely accessible roofs and other high or open areas, potentially requiring ladder or hatch access
  • Comfortable and willing to work in densely equipped mechanical and electrical spaces while following safety protocols
  • Ability to travel up to 30% to client sites
  • Ability to draft reports, business correspondence, and standard operating procedures
  • Ability to present information and respond to questions from clients, peers, and technical field staff
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Ability to interpret extensive instructions and deal with abstract and concrete variables
  • Proficiency with word processing, spreadsheet, project management, Facility Grid, CxAlloy, Advanced Excel, Microsoft Suite, business-specific and project-specific software
  • Ability to operate an electronic tablet for live field data collection
  • Understanding of construction materials and methods, environmental concerns, cost estimating, and industry standards
  • Ability to manage multiple stakeholders
