About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Perform Qualified Electrical Worker activities and electrical field assessments in accordance with OSHA, NFPA 70E, and site-specific requirements
- Conduct arc flash data collection and electrical equipment surveys
- Verify equipment identification, nameplates, voltage, amperage, protective devices, conductors, ratings, and other system data
- Evaluate electrical equipment and systems for condition, safety, maintenance, operational concerns, and compliance
- Identify and document electrical deficiencies, hazards, equipment conditions, and maintenance concerns
- Work safely around energized and de-energized equipment using LOTO procedures, approach boundaries, PPE, and energized work practices
- Review distribution systems, panels, switchgear, motor control centers, transformers, disconnects, motors, and related infrastructure
- Perform functional testing and observation of electrical and industrial equipment when required
- Document field conditions through notes, photographs, equipment schedules, drawings, and technical documentation
- Support evaluations of industrial maintenance practices, equipment reliability, and facility operations
- Assess material handling and conveyance systems
- Evaluate mechanical, controls, plumbing, and other industrial facility systems within project scope
- Identify interactions between electrical, mechanical, controls, and material handling systems
- Prepare technically accurate field documentation, assessment findings, observations, and recommendations
- Travel approximately 50–75% (up to approximately 75%) to client facilities and industrial sites across the U.S.
- Work flexible schedules, including night shifts and weekends, based on project needs
Requirements
What you’ll need- High school diploma or GED required
- Technical degree, trade school diploma, vocational training, or associate degree in electrical, mechanical, industrial maintenance, or related discipline preferred
- Valid driver’s license required, with a clean driving record and no significant MVA points or violations
- Industry-recognized certifications, active pursuit of certification, or equivalent professional credentialing such as CxA, CCP, BCxP, CEM, NICET, NFPA-related certifications, or active trade licensure relevant to the supported discipline
- Previously certified as a Qualified Electrical Worker (QEW) per NFPA 70E and OSHA standards
- Experience performing electrical work requiring arc flash PPE and electrical safety procedures
- Experience performing electrical equipment surveys, electrical data collection, or arc flash data gathering
- Strong working knowledge of NFPA 70E, OSHA electrical safety requirements, QEW practices, electrical equipment identification, and arc flash data collection methodologies
- Experience in industrial, manufacturing, distribution, warehouse, utility, commercial, or other complex facility environments
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, one-line diagrams, equipment schedules, nameplates, and technical documentation
- Proficiency operating computers, tablets, and electronic data collection tools
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, and Excel
- Ability to write technical reports, business correspondence, and standard operating procedures
- Ability to work independently in the field and exercise sound technical and safety judgment
- Ability and willingness to travel to client sites
- Ability to successfully work from a remote location
- Ability to travel by plane, motor vehicle, and train to client/project sites across the U.S.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including night shifts and weekend assignments
- Ability to walk, stand, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb stairs and ladders, operate a motor vehicle, and occasionally lift or move up to 40 pounds
- Ability to operate an electronic tablet in the field and a computer for up to 100% of the workweek
