About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Perform Qualified Electrical Worker (QEW) activities and electrical field assessments in accordance with OSHA, NFPA 70E, and site-specific safety requirements
  • Conduct arc flash data collection and electrical equipment surveys, including equipment identification, nameplate verification, voltage, amperage, protective device, conductor, and equipment rating data
  • Evaluate electrical equipment and systems for condition, safety, maintenance requirements, operational concerns, and compliance
  • Identify and document electrical deficiencies, hazards, equipment conditions, maintenance concerns, and field findings
  • Work safely around electrical equipment while following LOTO procedures, approach boundaries, PPE requirements, energized electrical work practices, and site-specific protocols
  • Review distribution systems, panels, switchgear, motor control centers, transformers, disconnects, motors, and related industrial electrical infrastructure
  • Perform functional testing and observation of electrical and industrial equipment when required
  • Document field conditions through notes, photographs, equipment schedules, drawings, and other technical documentation
  • Support evaluation of industrial maintenance practices, equipment reliability, and facility operations
  • Assess material handling and conveyance systems, including condition, installation, operation, alignment with drawings, specifications, operational requirements, and standards
  • Evaluate mechanical, controls, plumbing, and other industrial facility systems within project scope
  • Identify interactions between electrical, mechanical, controls, and material handling systems affecting performance, reliability, safety, or maintenance
  • Prepare technically accurate field documentation and assessment findings
  • Exercise independent judgment in evaluating field conditions and determining technical observations and recommendations
  • Travel to client facilities and industrial sites, approximately 50–75% or approximately 75% of the time, for field assessments and technical data collection
  • Work across industrial and commercial facilities as part of Bureau Veritas’ testing, inspection, and certification services

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Technical degree, trade school diploma, vocational training, or associate degree in electrical, mechanical, industrial maintenance, or related discipline preferred
  • Valid driver’s license required, with a clean driving record and no significant MVA points or violations
  • Industry-recognized certifications, active pursuit of certification, or equivalent professional credentialing such as CxA, CCP, BCxP, CEM, NICET, NFPA-related certifications, or active trade licensure relevant to the supported discipline
  • Previously certified as a Qualified Electrical Worker (QEW) experience per NFPA 70E and OSHA standards
  • Experience performing electrical work requiring arc flash PPE and electrical safety procedures
  • Experience performing electrical equipment surveys, electrical data collection, or arc flash data gathering
  • Strong understanding of NFPA 70E, OSHA electrical safety requirements, QEW practices, electrical equipment identification, and arc flash data collection methodologies
  • Experience working in industrial, manufacturing, distribution, warehouse, utility, commercial, or other complex facility environments
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, one-line diagrams, equipment schedules, nameplates, and related technical documentation
  • Proficiency operating computers, tablets, and electronic data collection tools
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Ability and willingness to travel to client sites
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including night shifts and weekend assignments
  • Ability to successfully work from a remote location
  • Ability to travel by plane, motor vehicle, and train to client/project sites across the U.S.
  • Ability to write technical reports, business correspondence, and standard operating procedures
  • Ability to define problems, collect and analyze data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Ability to understand and evaluate industrial electrical, mechanical, controls, and material handling systems
  • Physical ability to walk, stand, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb stairs/ladders, reach, communicate onsite, lift or move occasionally up to 40 pounds, operate tablets/computers, and operate a motor vehicle
