About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Attend various locations to carry out and/or supervise inspection, weighing and sampling of commodities as directed by the Operations Supervisor
- Represent Bureau Veritas and the contracting client professionally
- Inspect and verify materials and products using visual and mechanical methods
- Follow internal safety and IT practices
- Sample or supervise sampling of suitable, representative analytical samples
- Receive, sign for and dispatch samples as required
- Produce professional time logs within 24 hours of sampling or inspection
- Perform associated duties for the Metals & Minerals Division as directed by the Business Unit Manager
- Work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings
- Follow company standards and policies for health, safety, environmental, ethics, compliance, accreditation and quality management
- Follow local site rules and risk management procedures
- Use and maintain personal protective equipment and other equipment
- Keep the supervisor informed about day-to-day operations
- Report deviations or failures immediately to the supervisor
- Support job coordination for efficient departmental operations
Requirements
What you’ll need- Self-motivated, self-starter that enjoys being in the field
- Good time management, organization and prioritization skills
- Ability to work in remote locations and adapt to problems as situations arise
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team
- Good written, verbal and email communication skills
- Able to communicate effectively with clients and staff at all levels within the organization
- Proficient with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Proven ability to balance multiple competing priorities, meet deadlines and be responsive
- Willingness to learn and rapidly adapt to changing conditions
- Able to prepare documents and spreadsheets to a high level using MS Office software
- Demonstrate technical ability in sampling, measurement and inspection of dry bulk metals and minerals
- Valid driver’s license required
- Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) required
- Ability to stand, walk, handle objects/tools/controls, reach, climb or balance
- Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk and hear; taste and smell
- Ability to climb and descend stairways, ladders and gangways
- Ability to regularly lift/move/climb with up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift/move up to 100 pounds with assistance
- Required vision abilities include close, distance, color and peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment
- Weekend and evening availability required
