About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Perform QA/QC inspections of building systems, including electrical, mechanical, fire and life safety, and structural components
  • Perform building assessment projects such as data aggregation, facility equipment bar coding, housing data collection, parking lot studies, and surveys
  • Conduct walk-through surveys of building equipment, systems, structures, foundations, interiors, common areas, exterior walls, windows, roofs, and pavement
  • Collect equipment data, photograph equipment and tags, evaluate equipment condition, and apply bar codes
  • Gather photographic documentation of equipment tags, site features, building features, and observations
  • Review plans, construction documents, scopes of work, and site conditions
  • Review repair and improvement costs, occupancy certificates, maintenance records, safety inspection reports, warranties, and property records
  • Advance after training and onsite experience to more complex assessments such as Property Condition Assessments, ADA checklists, and environmental data collection
  • Prepare written reports accurately describing findings according to ASTM standards using computers, iPads, and other software
  • Identify deficiencies, hazards, and non-conformance issues and recommend corrective actions
  • Communicate inspection results and compliance issues to property owners, contractors, and stakeholders
  • Collaborate with engineers, architects, and inspectors to maintain inspection consistency and quality control
  • Maintain project communication with senior management regarding issues and potential problems
  • Meet productivity and report-quality objectives
  • Provide timely customer service and proactive solutions to client needs
  • Follow company policies, SOPs, work instructions, and safety procedures
  • Travel 75–90% of the time to client/project sites across the U.S.; onsite visits may last up to three continuous weeks

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High school diploma OR General Education Diploma (GED) required; some college preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years related experience
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Valid driver's license required with no significant motor vehicle report (MVR) points/violations (clean driving record)
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and standard operating procedures
  • Ability to present information and respond to questions from clients, peers, and technical field staff
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Ability to interpret varied instructions and deal with abstract and concrete variables
  • Time management, active listening, critical thinking, problem solving, and oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safely
  • Must have a cell phone and supply your own internet service
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the job, including walking, standing, climbing, crawling, lifting up to 40 pounds, and operating electronic devices
  • Ability to successfully work from a remote location
  • Ability to safely operate a motor vehicle with passengers
  • Ability to travel by plane, motor vehicle, and train to client sites across the U.S.
  • Willingness and ability to work onsite deployments of up to three continuous weeks, including overnight stays
  • Adherence to applicable local, state, and federal codes, regulations, and industry standards including ASTM, NFPA, NEC, ICC, and ASME
