About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Perform QA/QC inspections of commercial, residential, and industrial building systems, including electrical, mechanical, fire/life safety, and structural components
  • Perform building assessment projects such as data aggregation, equipment bar coding, housing data collection, parking lot studies, and surveys
  • Conduct walk-through surveys of building equipment, systems, structures, foundations, interiors, common areas, exteriors, roofs, and pavement
  • Collect data from equipment plates, photograph equipment and tags, evaluate equipment condition, and apply bar codes
  • Gather photographic documentation of equipment, site features, and observations
  • Review plans, construction documents, scopes of work, property records, maintenance reports, inspection reports, warranties, and repair/improvement costs against site conditions
  • Progress after training to more complex assessments, including Property Condition Assessments, ADA checklists, and environmental data collection
  • Prepare written reports accurately describing findings according to ASTM standards using computers, iPads, and other software
  • Identify deficiencies, hazards, and non-conformance issues and recommend corrective actions
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal codes, regulations, and standards including ASTM, NFPA, NEC, ICC, and ASME
  • Communicate inspection results and compliance issues to property owners, contractors, and stakeholders
  • Collaborate with engineers, architects, inspectors, senior management, and project teams
  • Maintain project communication, report issues, meet productivity and report-quality objectives, protect confidential information, and provide timely client service
  • Follow company policies, SOPs, work instructions, safety procedures, and quality standards
  • Travel 75–90% of the time to client/project sites across the U.S.; onsite visits may last up to three continuous weeks with overnight stays

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High school diploma OR General Education Diploma (GED) required; some college preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years related experience
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Valid driver's license required with no significant motor vehicle report (MVR) points/violations (clean driving record)
  • Must have a cell phone and supply your own internet service
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and standard operating procedures
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from clients, peers, and technical field staff
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of instructions and deal with abstract and concrete variables
  • Time management, active listening, critical thinking, problem solving, and oral/written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner
  • Must be able to meet the physical demands of the job, including walking, standing, climbing stairs/ladders, crouching, operating electronic devices, and occasionally lifting up to 40 pounds
  • Ability to successfully work from remote location
  • Ability to safely operate a motor vehicle with passengers
  • Travel by plane, motor vehicle, and train to client sites across the U.S.
  • Overnight stays away from home required during onsite deployments
