Technical Assessor Associate, Home Inspector Certification Required
Bureau Veritas Group. Perform QA/QC inspections of commercial, residential, and industrial building systems, including electrical, mechanical, fire and life safety, and structural components .
About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Perform QA/QC inspections of commercial, residential, and industrial building systems, including electrical, mechanical, fire and life safety, and structural components
- Perform building assessment projects such as data aggregation, equipment bar coding, housing data collection, parking lot studies, and surveys
- Conduct walk-through surveys of accessible and visible building equipment, systems, structures, foundations, interiors, common areas, exterior walls, windows, roofs, and pavement
- Collect data from equipment plates and enter it into web-based programs
- Photograph equipment, tags, site features, and building features
- Evaluate equipment condition and apply bar codes to identified equipment
- Review plans, construction documents, scopes of work, property records, maintenance records, inspection reports, warranties, and repair/improvement costs
- Identify deficiencies, hazards, and non-conformance issues and recommend corrective actions
- Progress to completing Property Condition Assessments, ADA checklists, and environmental data collection after training and on-site experience
- Prepare detailed written reports describing findings in accordance with ASTM standards using computers, iPads, and other software
- Communicate inspection results and compliance issues to property owners, contractors, and stakeholders
- Collaborate with engineers, architects, and other inspectors to maintain consistency and quality control
- Maintain communication with senior management regarding site deployment issues and potential problems
- Stay current on building codes, safety regulations, and standards including ASTM, NFPA, NEC, ICC, and ASME
- Meet productivity and report-quality objectives
- Protect confidential company information and provide timely, proactive customer service
- Follow company policies, SOPs, work instructions, safety procedures, and quality standards
- Perform extensive travel and onsite deployments, including visits lasting up to three continuous weeks and overnight stays
Requirements
What you’ll need- Certified Home Inspector or InterNACHI certification required
- High school diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) required; some college preferred
- Minimum of 3 years related experience
- Valid driver's license required with no significant motor vehicle report (MVR) points/violations (clean driving record)
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and standard operating procedures
- Ability to present information and respond to questions from clients, peers, and technical field staff
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
- Ability to interpret varied instructions and handle abstract and concrete variables
- Time management, active listening, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
- Oral and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Ability to work safely and maintain alertness
- Must have a cell phone and supply own internet service
- Must meet physical demands, including walking, standing, climbing stairs/ladders, crawling, operating tablets/computers, and occasionally lifting up to 40 pounds
- Ability to successfully work from a remote location
- Ability to safely operate a motor vehicle with passengers
- Travel by plane, motor vehicle, and train to U.S. client sites
