About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Perform QA/QC inspections of commercial, residential, and industrial building systems, including electrical, mechanical, fire and life safety, and structural components
  • Perform building assessment projects including data aggregation, facility-equipment bar coding, housing data collection, parking lot studies, and surveys
  • Conduct walk-through surveys of accessible and visible building equipment, systems, structures, foundations, interiors, common areas, exterior walls, windows, roofs, and pavement
  • Collect data from equipment plates for entry into web-based programs
  • Photograph equipment, tags, site features, and building features
  • Evaluate equipment condition and apply bar codes to identified equipment
  • Review plans, construction documents, scopes of work, property records, maintenance records, inspection reports, warranties, repair costs, and related documentation
  • Advance to more complex assessments such as Property Condition Assessments, ADA checklists, and environmental data collection after training and on-site experience
  • Prepare written reports accurately describing findings in accordance with ASTM standards
  • Identify deficiencies, hazards, and non-conformance issues and recommend corrective actions
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal codes, regulations, and industry standards including ASTM, NFPA, NEC, ICC, and ASME
  • Communicate inspection results and compliance issues to property owners, contractors, and stakeholders
  • Collaborate with engineers, architects, and other inspectors to maintain inspection consistency and quality control
  • Maintain project communication with senior management regarding issues and potential problems
  • Meet productivity and report-quality objectives
  • Provide timely customer service and proactive solutions to clients
  • Follow company policies, SOPs, work instructions, and safety procedures
  • Travel 75–90% of the time to client/project sites across the U.S., including onsite visits of up to three continuous weeks and overnight stays

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Certified Home Inspector or InterNACHI certification required
  • High school diploma OR General Education Diploma (GED) required
  • Minimum of 3 years related experience
  • Valid driver's license required with no significant motor vehicle report (MVR) points/violations (clean driving record)
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and standard operating procedures
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from clients, peers, and technical field staff
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of instructions and deal with several abstract and concrete variables
