About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Own the Rust core, including service logic, networking, data synchronization, and offline mode
  • Build and maintain native layers using Kotlin with JNI, Swift with C interop, and C# with P/Invoke for Unity
  • Design and maintain the API used by internal product teams, including backward compatibility
  • Handle builds, packaging, and releases across all supported platforms

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 5+ years of overall engineering experience
  • 1+ year of Rust in production
  • Confidence with async, threads, synchronization, queues, and deadlock debugging
  • Practical FFI experience: extern "C", JNI, and memory management across the language boundary
  • Experience with local databases, including version-to-version migration and resilient-first/data-preservation-first design
  • Ability to build under constraints involving limited RAM, disk, and battery
  • Experience with at least one or two platform stacks: Android, Apple, Unity, or Windows
  • Experience shipping and maintaining an SDK or library used by other teams
  • English at a level comfortable reading and writing technical documentation
  • A macOS machine required for building Apple targets
  • Real C++, C, or Zig experience is acceptable when Rust experience is under one year
  • Nice to have: uniffi or similar binding generators
  • Nice to have: CI/CD and package publishing experience with SwiftPM, Maven, or UPM
  • Nice to have: in-app purchases, including Play Billing or StoreKit
  • Nice to have: game development experience
  • Nice to have: mobile binary size optimization
