About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide high-level legal advice and analysis in complex litigation matters, particularly business and commercial disputes
- Offer strategic input on case development, motion practice, and trial preparation
- Advise on declaratory judgment actions in state and federal courts
- Handle declaratory relief matters involving breach of contract, tortious interference, insurance disputes, and other business-related litigation
- Draft and review declaratory pleadings and develop litigation strategies
- Manage cases from pre-litigation through trial
- Draft pleadings, motions, discovery, legal memoranda, and dispositive motions
- Conduct legal research and evaluate evidence and legal theories
- Conduct depositions, mediations, arbitrations, hearings, and court appearances
- Provide second-chair trial support or oversee specific litigation phases
- Advise clients on case developments, legal risks, and potential outcomes
- Support settlement negotiations and dispute resolution efforts
- Collaborate with partners and legal staff
- Participate in internal strategy sessions and contribute to firm knowledge and best practices
- Mentor junior attorneys and support team development
- Ensure legal actions align with ethical obligations, procedural requirements, and client expectations
- Identify and flag potential litigation risks
Requirements
What you’ll need- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
- Active Texas Bar license preferred
- 3+ years of experience in business litigation or commercial litigation
- Strong understanding of civil litigation procedures in state and federal courts
- Experience handling breach of contract, shareholder disputes, partnership disputes, business torts, tortious interference, insurance disputes, and declaratory judgment actions
- Trial preparation and courtroom experience preferred
- Excellent legal research, writing, analytical, and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple cases in a fast-paced environment
