About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Provide high-level legal advice and analysis in complex litigation matters, particularly business and commercial disputes
Offer strategic input on case development, motion practice, and trial preparation
Advise on declaratory judgment actions in state and federal courts
Handle declaratory relief matters involving breach of contract, tortious interference, insurance disputes, and other business-related litigation
Draft and review declaratory pleadings and develop litigation strategies
Manage cases from pre-litigation through trial
Draft pleadings, motions, discovery, legal memoranda, and dispositive motions
Conduct legal research and evaluate evidence and legal theories
Conduct depositions, mediations, arbitrations, hearings, and court appearances
Provide second-chair trial support or oversee specific litigation phases
Advise clients regarding case developments, legal risks, and potential outcomes
Support settlement negotiations and dispute resolution efforts
Collaborate with partners and legal staff
Participate in internal strategy sessions and contribute to firm knowledge and best practices
Mentor junior attorneys and support team development
Ensure legal actions align with ethical obligations, procedural requirements, and client expectations
Identify and flag potential litigation risks

Requirements

What you’ll need

Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
Active Texas Bar license preferred
3+ years of experience in business litigation or commercial litigation
Strong understanding of civil litigation procedures in state and federal courts
Experience handling breach of contract, shareholder disputes, partnership disputes, business torts, tortious interference, insurance disputes, and declaratory judgment actions
Trial preparation and courtroom experience preferred
Excellent legal research, writing, analytical, and communication skills
Ability to manage multiple cases in a fast-paced environment
